John and Patty Gerty and their Martha Jane always show up at the Festival.  I noted a continual flow of interested sailors asking all kind of questions.  The most frequent was, "Hay what are the holes in your bow, won't the boat sink with them?"  John always comes up with a good answer, not always the technically correct one...depending on the saltiness of the questioner.

John Gerty and yours truly, Ken Murphy, on John's Martha Jane, Zephyr.  John and Patty are very active Shallow Water Sailors and have gone on nearly all the SWSer's Spring Cruises on the Chesapeake as well as the two week Magnum Opus cruises in American and Canadian waters.  Patty has become a salt as well and keeps John out of trouble.  "Full astern John! No, No not full ahead! Astern! Astern!"
A shot taken from Zephyr.  Virginia, my crew who keeps me out of trouble, is the lady.  "Ken why are all the other boats going in the opposite direction,  could it be because of the lightening filled cloud just ahead?"

Note the on-lookers.  At least three men seriously said they were set to build their own Martha Jane.  Of cause, John did it the easy way and bought his Martha Jane from Richard Cullison, boatbuilder and SWS member.
