Finland & Estonia RAIDs Through the Years By Norman Wolfe and Csaba Hanyi |
What are RAIDs? They are cruise-races commonly of several days duration. They are in small open boats that are both rowed and sailed (sometimes sailing with rowing assist in light wind), and are from point to point, rather than around the buoys like typical small boat sailboat races. Some RAIDs are self reliant for food and shelter, others (like RAID Finland) provide restaurant or catered food and furnished accommodations. None (so far) are for a specific class, so one experiences a variety of small boats. |
