Shortly after the eventual uncorrected winner passed we noticed that
the Rhodes had shortcut one of the mandatory marks along the course, these
being islands noted "leave to starboard" or "to port", all pretty straightforward.
Could the Rhodes really be that dumb at navigating? This means DOVEKIE
WINS!
DAMN RIGHT! These guys are always talking "hardball", right? You bet your bippy! Get out that rulebook they're always telling us to read and review that part about protests. "---or as an alternate, a red flag, shall be flown from the port shroud"; that will have to be the red stuff-bag from the sleeping bag. "Hail the judge on the committee boat at the finish line, and receive acknowledgment"; no sweat there. Let's get this Hunter coming along here to witness the Rhodes' blunder. Yep, he's cut off a full mile at least: easiest race we ever won: Well, easiest Division 1 of 6 we ever won; but hey? When was the last time a Dovekie placed in an international yachting event? Now to get this into perspective , we're talking first in division 1 for the day, and second in division for the week, which would be about 85th overall, but hey, WE'VE GOT HARDWARE! |
