Bear Drop to Turnbull Island

Wednesday, July 31Bear Drop to Turnbull Island about 8 1/2 miles west
Clear, sunny, no wind day.  Snugged into a cove near where Waterbed beached for a secure night of stormy weather.  To our delight an eagle was spotted returning to its nest directly in our view.  A hare bell wild flower was found on shore, and a spider took up residence in Zephyr’s wind vane.  So many insects on this trip, an entomologist’s delight.

Thursday, August 1 - Today's goal was the cove on Dewdney Island
The goal was changed, as we were warned by a man with his golden retriever who motored over to tell us about 35 mile an hour winds and an approaching storm which did much damage in Sudbury . We all sailed to W 82°45', N 46°09', the SW corner of a long inner island (Turnbull Island), and either beached or anchored out.  A muskrat bypassed Zephyr this trip, and Dovekie sailors Larry and Richard had chicken pot pie in the dry warmth of Zephyr’s cabin.  After returning to Heron, Richard Cullison saw a brief water spout.  During a lull in the storm, was that a loon or Richard on his Native American flute?
